Overcoming Obesity and Boosting Immunity Due to COVID-19
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Oh Hwan-joo] Muan County, Jeonnam (Governor Kim San) has been operating a Vitality Health Promotion Class for 15 individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities at the Muan Self-Reliance Center for three months from last month through June.
According to the county on the 12th, due to restrictions on physical activities for people with disabilities caused by COVID-19, a health promotion program involving exercise instructors and nutritionists was established.
The Vitality Health Promotion Class is a program that helps people with disabilities overcome obesity and boost immunity through physical activities applying traditional games and new sports, as well as nutrition practice.
In particular, programs that stimulate the whole body using mini gym balls and fun, engaging activities such as making vegetable and fruit cups have received great responses from the trainees.
Governor Kim San said, “We plan to operate customized healthy lifestyle practice programs not only for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities but also for other people with disabilities,” adding, “We will continue to do our best to protect the rights and improve the welfare of people with disabilities.”
