[Asia Economy Reporter Ki Ha-young] On the 12th, Lotte Card delivered support funds for a shelter for pediatric cancer patients and their families, as well as an employee social contribution fund for pediatric cancer treatment, to the Korea Leukemia Children's Foundation at the Lotte Card headquarters in Jongno-gu, Seoul.

Since 2018, Lotte Card has supported the opening of pediatric cancer shelters in collaboration with the Credit Card Social Contribution Foundation, and this is the third time they have provided support. The pediatric cancer shelter is a small, independent lodging space where pediatric cancer patients and their families residing in provincial areas can stay while receiving treatment.

Lotte Card has supported the opening of pediatric cancer shelters near major hospitals in the Gangbuk and Gangnam areas of Seoul, as well as in Daehak-ro and near Gyodae Station, which have good accessibility. This minimizes the physical exhaustion caused by travel for pediatric cancer patients and their families, and provides necessary items in the shelter to help them find psychological stability during their stay.

On this day, Lotte Card also delivered 8,447,690 KRW from the social contribution fund donated by employees last year to support pediatric cancer treatment costs. This fund was raised through the Salary Rounding Sharing Campaign, where employees donate the change from their salaries, and a matching grant system where the company donates an amount equal to the employees' contributions. Lotte Card has continued to deliver employee social contribution funds for seven years, with cumulative donations totaling 104,658,070 KRW.

A Lotte Card official said, "Since the first pediatric cancer shelter opened in 2019, more than 2,000 pediatric cancer patients and their families have used the facility. Those who have used it have expressed gratitude for being able to use a hygienic and independent space during the COVID-19 period," adding, "We will continue to support pediatric cancer patients and their families so that they can overcome psychological and economic difficulties."
