[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] The Ministry of Employment and Labor announced on the 12th that it will hold the '2021 First Half Overseas Employment Video Interview Week' event in collaboration with KOTRA and the Human Resources Development Service of Korea.
The event, which will be held for a week until the 18th, will involve 75 foreign companies conducting video interviews with Korean youth and plans to hire about 200 people.
By nationality, Japanese companies were the most numerous with 50 companies. The United States (9 companies), China (9 companies), and Australia (2 companies) followed. The job categories are dominated by office management (85 people) and information technology (50 people), accounting for more than half.
Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the scale of foreign companies' recruitment in the domestic labor market is on the rise. Last year, the number of overseas company job postings registered on the overseas employment information network 'World Job Plus' was 15,017, an increase from 14,858 the previous year.
Until 2019, the Ministry of Employment and Labor supported Korean youth's employment at foreign companies by holding large-scale offline recruitment events called the 'Global Job Fair,' but since the outbreak of COVID-19 last year, it has replaced this with the Overseas Employment Video Interview Week event.
