[Asia Economy Reporter Buaeri] Com2uS announced on the 12th that it recorded sales of 116.7 billion KRW and an operating profit of 17.7 billion KRW in the first quarter.
Sales increased by 18.7% compared to the previous year, while operating profit decreased by 25.3%.
Regarding the decrease in operating profit, the company explained that it was due to increased marketing expenses for Summoners War: Hundred Years' War and increased labor costs from workforce expansion.
Looking at sales by segment, overseas sales accounted for 78% of the total, reaching 90.9 billion KRW. Sales in North America and Europe increased significantly by more than 30%.
Hundred Years' War, which was simultaneously released worldwide on the 29th of last month, recorded average daily sales of 1 billion KRW during the first ten days and surpassed 3 million downloads, showing steady success across the globe.
Com2uS plans to solidify its foundation with existing hit titles such as Summoners War and its baseball game series, and to build a strong lineup across various genres. Through this, it aims to accelerate its global market expansion and achieve 1 trillion KRW in global sales next year.
A Com2uS official stated, "We will actively pursue investments and mergers & acquisitions (M&A) in various promising companies, including intellectual property (IP) of flagship games like Summoners War, digital content, and the metaverse, to grow into a global comprehensive content company."
Additionally, Com2uS plans to enhance its global competitiveness by establishing a value chain across cultural contents centered on games, including web novels, webtoons, animation, dramas, movies, and broadcasting, through strategic investments in the media industry.
