[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Pulmuone's advanced research and development (R&D) center, Pulmuone Technology Institute, has proven its global R&D capabilities by obtaining KOLAS international accreditation as a testing institution.

On the 12th, Pulmuone announced that the Food Safety Center of Pulmuone Technology Institute, a food safety management organization, received international accreditation as a testing institution from KOLAS, the Korea Laboratory Accreditation Scheme under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.

The international accreditation system for testing institutions is a system that officially recognizes the quality management system as appropriate by evaluating the quality system and technical capabilities of testing institutions based on international standards set by related laws and international standard organizations.

The Food Safety Center of Pulmuone Technology Institute obtained international accreditation as a testing institution for a total of 34 items, including nutritional components, pesticide residues, heavy metals, minerals and preservatives, and microbiology. The number of items tested and evaluated at Pulmuone Technology Institute reaches about 20,000 annually, including food, health functional foods, and food ingredients.

Test reports issued by the Food Safety Center of Pulmuone Technology Institute have the same validity in 104 countries that are members of the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC), including the United States, Japan, China, and Europe.

Through this accreditation, Pulmuone can independently issue internationally recognized test reports, thereby proving international credibility, expertise, and reliability of test (measurement) results.

Since first obtaining KOLAS international accreditation as a testing institution in 2002, Pulmuone Technology Institute relocated to the Osong Biopolis district in Chungbuk in 2019 and passed the renewal, relocation, and conversion evaluations under strengthened international standards, maintaining its status as an internationally accredited testing institution until February 2025.

Lee Sang-yoon, head of Pulmuone Technology Institute, said, "Since Pulmuone Technology Institute declared a new leap forward by relocating to the Osong Biopolis district in Chungbuk, we have reconfirmed our global-level testing capabilities through KOLAS accreditation," adding, "Based on securing the credibility of the analysis institution, we will develop Pulmuone's food safety management capabilities and food quality levels to the highest global standards."
