Lee Chun-yeon, CEO of Cine2000, Passes Away from Heart Attack Lee Chun-yeon, CEO of Cine 2000, who appeared in the movie 'Unfair Trade'


Lee Chun-yeon, CEO of Cine2000 and producer of films such as "Whispering Corridors (1998)", "The Zoo Next Door to the Art Museum (1998)", and "The Terror Live (2013)", passed away from a heart attack on the 11th. He was 70 years old.


According to the film industry, he attended a meeting of the Asiana International Short Film Festival that day but left early due to poor health. It is reported that his family found him collapsed as soon as he arrived home.


A graduate of Chung-Ang University’s Department of Theater and Film, he began his career in the film industry in 1983 as the planning director at Hwacheon Corporation after working on theater stages. He planned films such as "Widow Dance (1983)", "Agada (1984)", "Scorching Sun (1984)", "The Rose of Sharon Blooms Again (1988)", "Age of Success (1988)", "Happiness Is Not Based on Grades (1989)", and "Yes, Sometimes Look at the Sky (1990)". In the 1990s, he achieved great success producing the "Whispering Corridors" series.


Beyond the film set, he played a leading role in the Korean film industry through various activities. He served as chairman of the Korean Film Council and representative of the Korean Film Organizations Solidarity, leading movements such as opposition to the screen quota system. He also made significant contributions to the founding of the Busan International Film Festival, Jeonju International Film Festival, and Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival. The funeral is being held at Seoul St. Mary's Hospital Funeral Hall.
