[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Gwang-wook] Kang Cheol-won, former Seoul City Political Coordination Officer known as Mayor Oh Se-hoon's 'right-hand man,' is returning to the city government.

According to Seoul City on the 11th, Kang was recently appointed as the Special Advisor for Future Strategy assisting Mayor Oh. The Future Strategy Special Advisor is a professional fixed-term public official equivalent to Grade 3, serving as an advisor to secure Seoul's urban competitiveness and present future visions.

Kang, who started as an aide to Mayor Oh during his time as a member of the National Assembly, served as Seoul City's Public Relations Planning Officer and Political Coordination Officer during Oh's previous term (2006?2011). He resigned alongside Mayor Oh after the 2011 free school meals referendum. In the April by-election this year, he served as the Secretary-General of the campaign, overseeing election strategy.

The city recently announced a partial amendment to the administrative organization ordinance enforcement rules, changing the policy advisor, public relations advisor, and gender advisor positions created during the late Mayor Park Won-soon's administration to Future Strategy Special Advisor, Senior Political Secretary, and Senior Policy Secretary. Former Seoul City Council member Park Chan-gu was appointed as Senior Political Secretary, and former Seoul City Policy Secretary Lee Kwang-seok was appointed as Senior Policy Secretary.
