[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Jinju City in Gyeongnam announced on the 11th that it held a commemorative tree-planting ceremony for the completion of the new Sangbong-dong Administrative Welfare Center building.

The city invested a budget of about 5.4 billion KRW to resolve visitor inconveniences caused by the complex geographical location and cramped interior space of the existing Sangbong-dong Administrative Welfare Center building, and to meet various administrative and welfare demands as well as provide opportunities for cultural enjoyment. Construction of the new building began in December 2019, and it was completed in November last year with a total area of 969㎡ and three floors above ground.

The tree-planting event was organized to commemorate the completion of the center, which was built for resident harmony and citizen convenience. Due to the COVID-19 situation, only a small number of officials, including Mayor Cho Gyu-il of Jinju and Chairman Lee Sang-young of the City Council, attended, and the event was held simply while complying with quarantine guidelines.

Mayor Cho expressed his gratitude to everyone who contributed to the construction of the new Sangbong-dong Administrative Welfare Center building. He emphasized the need for resident-centered administrative and welfare services that can practically resolve resident inconveniences and welfare blind spots, and urged everyone to make efforts so that the center becomes a resident complex community space where all residents can gather together.
