Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju, Trains Psychological Counseling Personnel for Career-Interrupted Women

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 11th that it has been additionally selected for the Ministry of Employment and Labor's 'Regional Industry Customized Job Creation Support Project Contest' and will promote a project to train psychological counseling personnel targeting career-interrupted women.

With this additional selection, Gwangsan-gu secured an additional project budget of 145 million KRW, bringing the total project budget to 490 million KRW for this year.

The 'Regional Industry Customized Job Creation Support Project Contest' is a program that supports proposals from local governments and non-profit organizations that collaborate to create jobs for citizens and solve regional employment issues.

Following the selection in January this year for ▲Gwangju-type Medical and 3D Smart Convergence Workforce Training Project ▲Root Industry Surface Treatment Workforce Training Project, a specialized project for career-interrupted women, who have faced particular difficulties in employment due to COVID-19, was selected: the ▲Mind Care Counselor Workforce Training Project.

Gwangsan-gu planned this project reflecting the demand from the industry, as interest in psychological counseling has increased due to COVID-19 blues, school violence trauma, and various newly established psychological support voucher systems require the training of professional personnel.

In cooperation with Honam University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation, professional psychological counseling education will be provided to 20 career-interrupted women, assisting them in obtaining certifications and connecting them to jobs.

A Gwangsan-gu official said, “The Mind Care Counselor Workforce Training Project is a project that reflects social issues and field demands. Through a solid project, we will train career-interrupted women as professional personnel to increase employment rates and provide high-quality services to residents who need psychological stability.”
