[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam announced on the 11th that out of 7,165 people who agreed to receive the Pfizer vaccine, 3,659 (51%) have completed the first dose.

From the 6th, over three days, the second dose was administered to 525 residents of elderly care facilities, and unvaccinated individuals are scheduled to complete their second dose rapidly by June, following the order of towns and townships starting from the 10th.

So far, 1,154 people have completed the second dose, accounting for 16%.

After completing the second dose for 3,659 people in three towns and townships (Geochang-eup, Jusang-myeon, Ungyang-myeon) who finished the first dose, the county plans to sequentially complete the first and second doses for seniors aged 75 and over in Goje-myeon, Buksang-myeon, Wicheon-myeon, Mari-myeon, Namsang-myeon, Namha-myeon, Sinwon-myeon, Gajo-myeon, and Gabuk-myeon by June.

According to the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, the Pfizer vaccine can generate an antibody response rate of up to 95% against the COVID-19 virus after two doses, so completing the second dose is recommended.

Gu In-mo, the mayor of Geochang-gun, said, "We are accelerating the introduction of vaccines and the vaccination schedule to ensure that the second dose for seniors aged 75 and over in towns and townships is completed by June, so please trust and wait for your turn," adding, "We will continue to mobilize all administrative resources to ensure safe and prompt vaccination."

Starting from the 27th, the county has been operating a telephone consultation center since the 7th and providing phone reservation services for the convenience of the elderly aged 65 to 74 who will begin receiving the AZ (AstraZeneca) vaccine.
