Dong-Eui Science University Produces Youngest Automotive Maintenance Technician Master This Year Shin Sang-ho (24), a graduate of the Department of Automotive Engineering at Dong-Eui Institute of Technology, is the youngest person to pass the Automobile Maintenance Technician Master certification this year.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Dong-Eui Science University has produced the youngest person to pass the Automobile Maintenance Craftsman certification this year.

Dong-Eui Science University (President Kim Young-do) announced on the 11th that Shin Sang-ho, a graduate of the Department of Automotive Engineering, has successfully passed the 69th National Automobile Maintenance Craftsman Certification Exam in 2021.

At 24 years old this year, Shin set the record as the youngest person to pass the Automobile Maintenance Craftsman certification.

Currently working in the defense production team at Hyundai Rotem, Shin's "automobile life" has spanned 10 years.

Shin graduated from Busan Electronic Technical High School's Automotive Department and Dong-Eui Science University's Automotive Department, and even after employment, he did not give up his passion for learning.

In 2019, he enrolled in the Automotive Engineering Department's advanced bachelor's degree program at the same university and graduated with excellent grades last February.

Overcoming time constraints from balancing work and study as an employee, Shin has consistently participated in various competitions such as self-built car contests, nurturing his dream of becoming a professional technician skilled in both vehicle maintenance and manufacturing.

Last year, Shin received an encouragement award in the Baja race (off-road) category at the "2020 University Student Self-Built Car Competition" hosted by the Korean Society of Automotive Engineers (KSAE).

The university stated that since the average pass rate for the Automobile Maintenance Craftsman certification is below 10% and the difficulty is high, it is very rare for a current student to pass the certification through a bachelor's degree program.

Meanwhile, Park Jae-woong (52) and Heo Jeong-gap (52) from the Automotive Department also successfully passed the 69th National Automobile Maintenance Craftsman Certification Exam in 2021.

Shin Sang-ho said, "My experience participating in skills competitions as a student, along with practical university classes after work and the passionate teaching of professors, helped me pass the craftsman exam on my first try."

Jang Sung-gyu, head of the Automotive Department, introduced, "Many automotive students are obtaining certifications such as automobile maintenance technician, industrial engineer, and engineer through practical classes."

Head Jang added, "To respond to the rapidly changing automobile market, this year we will implement practical education in the electric vehicle field and take the lead as an educational institution guiding domestic automobile education."
