[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Daehyun] The prosecution conducted a search and seizure at Seongnam City Hall in connection with the leak of investigation materials related to Eun Sumi, the mayor of Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province.
According to the legal community on the 11th, the Criminal Division 6 of Suwon District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Park Gwanghyun) reportedly secured necessary materials for the investigation from the Secretary's Office and Accounting Department at Seongnam City Hall the previous morning.
Earlier, the prosecution arrested and indicted Sergeant A of the Seongnam Sujeong Police Station last month on charges of leaking official secrets, after meeting with the mayor's secretary, who was under investigation for violating the Political Funds Act in October 2018, and showing the investigation result report, thereby leaking investigation materials.
During the investigation of Sergeant A, the prosecution identified additional charges and proceeded with the search and seizure at Seongnam City Hall.
On that day, a prosecution official stated, "Since it is the early stage of the investigation, we cannot disclose detailed information."
