eBay Korea sells 2.87 million items on first day of Big Smile Day... 33 items sold per second

eBay Korea's largest shopping festival of the first half of the year, 'Big Smile Day,' recorded a total cumulative sales of 2.87 million items on the first day of opening.

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] eBay Korea announced on the 11th that the first day of the biggest shopping festival of the first half of the year, ‘Big Smile Day,’ recorded a cumulative total of 2.87 million items sold.

eBay Korea stated that on the first day of the Big Smile Day event, the 10th, a total of 2,875,718 products were sold on Gmarket, Auction, and G9. This means 120,000 items were sold per hour, or 33 items per second.

Sold-out streaks continued. Pavilion PCs on Gmarket and Auction recorded sales of 960 million KRW and sold out, achieving the number one cumulative ranking. ASUS laptops also sold out with total sales of 570 million KRW. Other best-selling items included LG Dios dishwashers (880 million KRW), Galaxy S21 unlocked phones (680 million KRW), and UHD 4K TVs (780 million KRW).

The real-time live commerce show ‘Jangsa-ui Sindong’ (Prodigy of Commerce) also gained popularity. Starting at 8 PM that day, Jangsa-ui Sindong sold four premium LG Objet Collection products at up to 20% discounted prices. Super Junior’s Shindong hosted the broadcast, which surpassed 10,000 viewers within 8 minutes of starting and recorded over 43,000 viewers in total. During the 1 hour and 30 minutes of the broadcast, the four Objet Collection products generated sales exceeding 310 million KRW. As of 9 PM, LG Objet Collection recorded total sales of over 800 million KRW on Gmarket and Auction.
