[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Eunpyeong-gu (Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) announced on the 4th that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Kyonggi University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation (Director Yoon Yeo-gang) to respond to the climate change crisis and achieve carbon neutrality.


This agreement aims to actively participate in the government's 2050 carbon neutrality initiative, respond to the climate change crisis, and engage in industry-academic cooperation projects to transition to a carbon-neutral society and economy.


The main contents of the agreement include ▲ strengthening local cooperation to overcome the climate crisis and achieve carbon neutrality ▲ establishing a community network for K-quarantine ▲ mutual cooperation in expert consultation and exchange in the digital green sector.


Through this agreement, the two institutions expect to expand infrastructure for producing results in carbon-neutral innovative technology development and create a platform for digital green exchanges, which will serve as a catalyst for revitalizing the local economy.


Kyonggi University, a leading university nurturing the future of the 4th Industrial Revolution, has campuses in Seoul and Suwon. It particularly envisions contributing to student success support and regional and industrial development through innovative projects leading future-oriented education.


Mayor Kim Mi-kyung stated, “I hope Kyonggi University becomes a platform for regional development by fostering talent, producing research outcomes, attracting unicorn companies, and becoming a driving force for regional growth. We will actively collaborate to revitalize the local economy, which has been stagnant due to COVID-19, strengthen global competitiveness, and promote the realization of carbon neutrality and the culture of the digital green new deal.”
