New Chairman Yong-pyo Lee
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] Lee Yong-pyo, former Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency Commissioner, was inaugurated as the 3rd Chairman of the Korea Elevator Safety Agency on the 10th.
At the inauguration ceremony held at the agency headquarters EL-Safe Hall that morning, the new chairman stated, "The value the agency should pursue is to guarantee the safety and convenience of elevator users so that the public can live safe and convenient lives," adding, "We will implement management centered on safety, prevention, technology, people, and cooperation."
He continued, "Elevator accidents and malfunctions must be perfectly prevented in advance rather than dealt with afterward to ensure safety, and for this, expertise, communication, and mutual growth are necessary."
Chairman Lee is recognized for his crisis response capabilities as well as excellent organizational management and communication skills, gained through key police positions and diverse work experiences.
Regarding his work philosophy, Chairman Lee holds the belief that "unclear instructions are equivalent to none, and vague actions are the same as doing nothing," but in his personal life, he is known to be modest, frugal, and fond of simple, down-to-earth things.
Meanwhile, Chairman Lee hails from Namhae, Gyeongnam, graduated from Jinju High School and the National Police University, and entered the police force in 1987.
