Jeongeup-si "Apply for Mushroom Mandatory Fund Membership"

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jae-gil] Jeongeup City, Jeonbuk Province, announced on the 10th that it is accepting applications for mandatory fund association membership from mushroom cultivators and producer organizations until the 31st of this month.

The establishment of a mandatory fund association promoted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs aims to resolve supply and demand issues such as unstable mushroom prices and to establish a supply control system centered on farmers.

Upon establishment, the mandatory fund and the Ministry of Agriculture's project funds will be matched to expand mushroom consumption and manage supply, enabling farmers to proactively prevent drastic price drops and spikes in agricultural products.

The eligibility for mandatory fund membership includes farms cultivating mushrooms on 1,000㎡ or more or producer organizations with a handling amount of 100 million KRW or more in the previous year.

Farmers wishing to join can visit their local eup, myeon, or dong office and submit an application form by the 31st.

According to the amendment of the Fisheries and Agricultural Fund Act, the city plans to limit the beneficiaries of various support projects in the mushroom sector to farms enrolled in the mandatory fund, and is focusing on publicity to ensure no disadvantages occur to farms that have not yet joined.

A city official stated, “We ask for the active participation of cultivating farms so that through joining the mushroom mandatory fund association, stable production and consumption promotion can develop mushrooms into a competitive item.”
