[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Sumi] The story of a former Taekwondo world champion who maintained a healthy lifestyle through consistent exercise such as Taekwondo and had to have his leg amputated due to a bacterial infection after receiving the AstraZeneca (AZ) vaccine has been revealed. Local medical staff stated that they have not yet determined any connection between the AZ vaccine and the infected virus.
According to major foreign media on the 7th (local time), former Taekwondo world champion Dave Myers (58) received the AZ vaccine in March. From the day after receiving the vaccine, Dave experienced high fever symptoms similar to a cold, and later his leg became severely swollen. Eventually, Dave was transported to the emergency room, but his condition worsened to the point where blood was spurting from his leg.
Medical staff said that Dave's symptoms were "due to exposure to an unknown virus," and that amputation of the leg was the only option.
Meanwhile, Dave reportedly said, "After receiving the vaccine, I started experiencing high fever and swelling in my leg. I believe the cause is the vaccine," according to the media.
