Improvement of 'Uijeongbu Chronic Congestion Section' at the Convergence of National Route 3 and National Route 43 Yangju Tunnel~Uijeongbu St. Mary's Hospital section [Provided by Gyeonggi Northern Provincial Police Agency]

[Asia Economy Reporter La Young-cheol] The traffic system has been improved to alleviate vehicle congestion on the 3.7km section connecting Gwangsa IC on National Road No. 3 (Shinpyeonghwa-ro) in northern Gyeonggi Province → Yangju Tunnel → Jail IC → Uijeongbu St. Mary's Hospital Intersection (National Road No. 43).

According to the Northern Gyeonggi Provincial Police Agency on the 7th, in cooperation with the Road Management Office, the following measures were implemented: ▲ signal changes reflecting traffic volume changes at the Uijeongbu St. Mary's Hospital Intersection ▲ signal synchronization up to the Pocheon city boundary ▲ adjustment of signal cycles at the nearby Minrak IC intersection and guidance to disperse vehicles entering the urban area.

The police expect an economic effect of 41.9 billion KRW annually (an average of 115 million KRW per day) from the improvement of congestion in the area.

The section where National Road No. 43 merges from the ramp between Yangju Tunnel and Jail IC toward Uijeongbu, leading to Uijeongbu St. Mary's Hospital, has been identified as a representative congestion area in the Uijeongbu region.
