[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 7th that it held a ‘Memory Filling Bundle’ delivery ceremony at the Gwangsan-gu Dementia Safety Center to alleviate COVID-19 related depression among elderly dementia patients and support cognitive health activities in daily life.
Starting with the delivery ceremony on this day, the Gwangsan-gu Dementia Safety Center will provide 550 dementia management subjects with learning materials and tools that can be self-studied at home to prevent dementia deterioration until December this year.
The ‘Memory Filling Bundle’ consists of a total of 10 items that help enhance cognition, including ▲learning materials (puzzles, educational tools) ▲craft activities (pot coaster making kit) ▲art activities (coloring book, colored pencils) ▲basic health improvement items (probiotics, patches, hand sanitizer), and will be distributed in three phases through phone reservations followed by visits to the center or home visits.
Kim Sam-ho, Mayor of Gwangsan-gu, said, “To minimize the gap in face-to-face services at the Dementia Safety Center caused by COVID-19 and to prevent the worsening of dementia among elderly dementia patients, we have delivered the bundles again this year following last year,” and added, “Gwangsan-gu will make further efforts to create a dementia-friendly environment where people can live together with dementia patients.”
