[Asia Economy Reporter Bae Kyunghwan] The prosecution has demanded a 25-year prison sentence for Kim Mo (22), the older sister accused of neglecting her 3-year-old younger sister in Gumi, Gyeongbuk, leading to the child's death.

On the 7th, during the sentencing hearing for the death of the 3-year-old girl held at the Criminal Division of Gimcheon Branch, Daegu District Court (Presiding Judge Lee Yunho), the prosecution requested the court to sentence Kim to 25 years in prison.

Kim left A, the child, in a villa in Sangmo Sagok-dong, Gumi, and moved out on August 10 last year, despite knowing that withholding food could cause the child’s death. It is reported that Kim admitted all the charges during the first trial on the 9th of last month. The prosecution charged Kim with murder, violations of the Child Welfare Act, Child Allowance Act, and Infant Care Act related to the deceased girl.

On this day, the prosecution stated, "A 29-month-old child died without even a sip of water on a hot summer day, and the victim’s suffering during this process is unimaginable," adding, "Kim neglected her duty as a guardian, the method of the crime was cruel, irreversible damage occurred, and severe punishment is necessary for child abuse crimes."

Meanwhile, after the prosecution’s sentencing demand, Kim reportedly said, "You might say, ‘What use is it to regret belatedly?’ but I will accept the punishment given to me. I am sorry." The sentencing trial for Kim is scheduled for the 4th of next month.
