[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Seunghyun] Mokpo City, Jeollanam-do announced on the 7th that it held a commendation ceremony for meritorious persons who contributed to the spread of filial piety in celebration of the 49th Parents' Day at the city hall conference room.


The city scaled down the commemorative ceremony to only the commendation ceremony to prevent the spread of COVID-19.


The filial piety commendation was awarded to 16 people, including Kim Ji-young, a recipient of the Governor's Commendation who devotedly cared for her elderly parents and set an example, and Kim Yong-man, a visually impaired person who leads a harmonious family by caring for his elderly mother in a three-generation household.


Additionally, 10 people, including Shin Geum-ja, who successfully raised six siblings and four grandchildren, received the Commendation for Honorable Parents, delivering a warm impression during the Family Month of May.


Kim Jong-sik, Mayor of Mokpo, stated, "I hope Parents' Day will be a day to reflect on the boundless grace of our parents and to look after not only our own parents but also the elderly neighbors who are marginalized and struggling."
