[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Jeong Seunghyun] Mokpo City, Jeollanam-do announced on the 7th that it is administering the Pfizer vaccine at the vaccination center installed in the Mokpo Indoor Gymnasium for citizens aged 75 and older.

Currently, vaccinations are being carried out sequentially starting from neighborhoods with a large population of those aged 75 and older, depending on the vaccine supply situation from the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency.

Considering that the vaccination target group is elderly, the city operates shuttle buses and has organized guidance teams consisting of community leaders and city hall officials to facilitate smooth vaccinations and increase the vaccination rate.

Also, since there are limitations in vaccine supply, efforts are being made to cooperate with related departments and local administrative welfare centers to prevent no-shows among those who made reservations.

In particular, on the day of vaccination, if a reservation is canceled due to health reasons, to minimize the disposal of pre-thawed vaccines, leftover doses were administered to onsite vaccination support staff at the vaccination center according to the guidelines of the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency.

A city official stated, “Please understand that we cannot establish an overall vaccination plan because vaccines are not supplied all at once,” and added, “We plan to complete vaccinations for seniors aged 75 and older by the end of June at the latest, and we ask everyone to comply with personal quarantine rules such as social distancing and wearing masks until immunity is secured through vaccination.”

Meanwhile, as of the 5th, the total number of vaccinated people in Mokpo City is 20,292, with 13,300 having received the AstraZeneca vaccine and 6,992 the Pfizer vaccine.
