Shinhan Bank Provides COVID-19 Vaccination Certification Service on 'SOL'

[Asia Economy Reporter Kwangho Lee] Shinhan Bank will be the first in the industry to provide an electronic certificate that verifies COVID-19 vaccination status through a mobile application (app).

According to the financial sector on the 7th, Shinhan Bank plans to issue an electronic certificate verifying COVID-19 vaccination status on the 20th of this month.

The electronic certificate is verified through Shinhan Bank's mobile banking app 'SOL' in the same way as personal authentication using a QR code at restaurants and cafes.

A Shinhan Bank official stated, "We received the vaccine certificate from the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency in the form of an app programming interface (API), allowing it to be integrated into SOL," adding, "The service is expected to be available around mid-month."

Starting with Shinhan Bank, if other banks also provide this service, it is expected that people will be able to easily prove their vaccination status in daily life just like authenticating themselves with a QR code.
