Ministry of Justice Appoints Kim Hak-ui's Lawyer in Yoon Seok-yeol Disciplinary Lawsuit

[Asia Economy Reporter Baek Kyunghwan] The Ministry of Justice is reported to have appointed a lawyer who previously defended former Vice Minister of Justice Kim Hak-ui in a criminal case to handle the lawsuit related to the disciplinary action against former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol.

According to the legal community on the 7th, the Ministry of Justice recently additionally appointed lawyer Wi Dae-hoon (56, Judicial Research and Training Institute class 21) for the lawsuit filed by former Prosecutor General Yoon seeking cancellation of the disciplinary action.

Previously, the Ministry of Justice had appointed lawyers Lee Ok-hyung and Lee Geun-ho. They were appointed as representatives for the Ministry of Justice in the injunction case concerning the effectiveness of the disciplinary action against former Prosecutor General Yoon.

Lawyer Wi is currently handling the criminal defense for former Vice Minister Kim, who was indicted on charges of sexual bribery and bribery. In the appellate trial, some charges against former Vice Minister Kim were recognized as guilty, resulting in a sentence of 2 years and 6 months imprisonment, a fine of 5 million KRW, and a confiscation of 43 million KRW. He has appealed and is awaiting the Supreme Court's final judgment.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Justice Prosecutor Disciplinary Committee decided on December 16 last year that former Prosecutor General Yoon's alleged offenses, including 'interference with the Channel A case inspection and investigation' and 'surveillance documents on judges,' were serious and imposed a two-month suspension. Subsequently, former Prosecutor General Yoon filed a lawsuit seeking cancellation of the two-month suspension and applied for an injunction to halt the disciplinary action's effect. The court approved the injunction application on December 24 last year.
