Participation in the Nationwide Low Birthrate Overcoming Po(4)ham Relay Challenge on the 4th... Delivering a Message for Community Involvement to Overcome the Low Birthrate Crisis
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Kim Seon-gap, mayor of Gwangjin District, participated in the "National Four-in-One Relay Challenge to Overcome Low Birthrate" on the 4th.
This challenge was organized with the purpose of overcoming the national crisis caused by low birthrate through solidarity and cooperation with local communities and creating a happy Republic of Korea.
On this day, Mayor Kim Seon-gap certified his participation in the challenge with the message "Working together, caring together, protecting together, and a happy Republic of Korea together," and requested that all members of the local community join in overcoming the low birthrate.
Mayor Kim joined the challenge on the 28th of last month, nominated by Lee Chang-woo, mayor of Dongjak District, and nominated Yuseong-hoon, mayor of Geumcheon District, Yoon Myung-ja, director of Gwangjin District Healthy Family Multicultural Family Support Center, and Jo Seong-hee, director of Gwangjin District Childcare Comprehensive Support Center as the next participants.
Mayor Kim Seon-gap said, "As the famous African proverb goes, 'It takes a whole village to raise a child,' everyone’s interest and effort are necessary for children to be born and grow up," and added, "We will do our best to resolve the daily difficulties of childbirth and childcare households and ensure that children can grow up healthily."
The district is promoting various citizen-experienced policies to create a child-friendly environment.
First, as a new project this year, the district established the "Gwangjin Mom Taxi," which provides convenient transportation for pregnant women and families with infants, and the "Pregnant Women Household Care Service Support Project," which offers customized services such as housekeeping and meal support to pregnant households.
In addition, to reduce the economic burden on childcare families, the district operates services such as the "Free Naming Service for Newborns," "Safe Car Seat Rental Project," and "Free Rental Service for Baekilsang and Dolsang" (traditional first birthday table setups).
