The International Art Dealer Association (IADA, President Lee Dae-hee) and the PLAS (Plastic Art Seoul) Art Fair (CEO Shin Jun-won) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Wednesday, March 10.
Through this agreement, the two organizations plan to jointly explore ways to revitalize the domestic art market, continuously promoting the expansion of cultural and artistic foundations and the development of high-quality educational content.
Following the agreement, the International Art Dealer Association announced that it will expand its activities by participating as a sponsor of the PLAS Art Fair. This will allow them to widely promote the art education industry to art enthusiasts and the general public, introducing various educational contents. Additionally, the PLAS Art Fair will utilize the educational content of the International Art Dealer Association to showcase a broad cultural industry not only in the domestic market but also globally, generating positive responses within the cultural and artistic community.
Lee Dae-hee, President of the International Art Dealer Association, stated, “During the process of planning cultural and artistic content based on the art market, we felt the necessity of mutual cooperation in the art fair sector,” and expressed his aspiration, “We will contribute to the development of visual arts by using the large-scale art fair as a stepping stone.”
The art fair “Plastic Art Seoul 2021,” in which the association participates, is scheduled to be held for four days from Sunday, May 16, at COEX Hall B in Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, under the theme “A New Era.” Since its first event in 2016, this art fair has become one of the major art festivals in Korea, showcasing various genres including public sculptures, sculptures, installations, media art, and paintings. By planning unique themes each year and providing a comprehensive view of art trends, the PLAS Art Fair has established itself as a leader in the art market. Accordingly, the International Art Dealer Association plans to solidify its position as a partner of this art fair by providing exemplary content for future art dealers based on the artistic networks it has built and the information gathered from the active art market.
Meanwhile, the International Art Dealer Association is an academy-style institution established to nurture art dealers, providing knowledge and information necessary for art dealers by analyzing trends in the art market. Currently, it offers both online and offline courses sharing programs ranging from general knowledge required for art dealers to information for art investment and various art tax laws.
The signing of this MOU is significant as it marks a milestone where Korea’s leading cultural and artistic institutions cooperate to lead the development of visual arts.
