[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] The eldest daughter of Bill Gates and his wife expressed that the announcement of their parents' divorce is a "difficult time for the whole family."

Jennifer Gates (25) said on Instagram on the 3rd (local time), "By now, you must have heard a lot about our parents' separation."

Gates said, "My family and I are learning the process and emotions of how to accept this." She added, "I will not make any personal comments regarding my parents' breakup news going forward," and asked for understanding of her wish to protect their privacy as they move on to the next stage of their lives.

Following her post, she shared a screenshot of her mother Melinda Gates' divorce statement posted on Twitter.

Jennifer Gates, the eldest of the three children of the Gates couple, majored in Human Biology at Stanford University and is currently attending the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York.

In February, she posted a photo of herself receiving the COVID-19 vaccine, indirectly refuting conspiracy theories surrounding Bill Gates and vaccines. Along with the photo of her vaccination, Gates wrote, "Sadly, the vaccine did not transplant the brain of my genius dad to me. If mRNA (messenger RNA) had that ability!"
