Dongdaemun-gu to Hold Dong Hope Welfare Committee Chair Meeting on 29th; Encouraging Private Chair's Efforts, Awarding Commendations... Discussing Ways to Revitalize Resident-Led Dong Hope Welfare Committee Activities Amid COVID-19 Challenges

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor You Deok-yeol) held the '2021 Dong Hope Welfare Committee Chairpersons Meeting' at Dongdaemun-gu Office on the 29th.

The Dong Hope Welfare Committee is a Dongdaemun-type welfare network established in March 2013 to discover welfare resources and build a dense local community welfare safety net by finding welfare blind spot recipients in need of help in the area and connecting them to services.

Currently, in the 14 neighborhoods of Dongdaemun-gu, there are 28 co-chairpersons including private chairpersons and ex officio neighborhood chiefs, and 1,579 Hope Welfare Committee members are active.

The meeting was held to commend the efforts of the private chairpersons of the 14 neighborhoods and to award certificates of appreciation to the chairpersons of four neighborhoods?Dapsimni 2-dong, Jangan 1-dong, Imun 1-dong, and Imun 2-dong?who made significant contributions to sharing activities.

Additionally, at this meeting, the private chairpersons of the 14 neighborhoods discussed various ways to more actively reach out to vulnerable groups in the difficult situation of face-to-face activities due to COVID-19.
