[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Gimhae City in Gyeongnam announced on the 29th that it is assisting people with disabilities, pregnant women, and the elderly who need some time to board city buses through a waiting call service for transportation-vulnerable groups in public transportation.

The waiting call service is designed to prevent cases where transportation-vulnerable groups such as people with disabilities, pregnant women, and the elderly miss boarding due to short stop times or when their intention to board is not recognized, resulting in buses passing without stopping.

By visiting the ‘Gimhae Transportation Information Center’ website on mobile and applying for ‘Transportation-Vulnerable Reservation,’ bus drivers operating on the route can confirm in advance that there are waiting transportation-vulnerable passengers at the boarding point. Buses that confirm waiting passengers can slow down or extend the stop time according to the boarding situation, allowing passengers to board comfortably.

A Gimhae City official said, “Careful consideration from the perspective of passengers who have difficulty boarding public transportation is necessary,” adding, “The waiting call service for transportation-vulnerable groups in public transportation will be good news for these passengers.”
