[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Land owned by the late Lee Kun-hee, Chairman of Samsung Electronics, located on a popular hiking trail in Busan, has been donated to Haeundae-gu.
Haeundae-gu announced on the 29th that the family of the late Chairman Lee Kun-hee donated 38,000㎡ of land at San 2, U-dong, Haeundae-gu.
The donated land is forest land where Jangsan Forest Bath and Jangsan Valley are located, with an area equivalent to five soccer fields. The official land price is 147 million KRW, and the market value is estimated at 700 million KRW.
A Haeundae-gu official stated, “From the 29th, when the land registration was completed, it officially became the property of Haeundae-gu.”
It is known that the family of the late Chairman Lee Kun-hee donated the land to Haeundae-gu to preserve Jangsan and for forest conservation and public convenience.
Haeundae-gu plans to preserve the donated land as forest land. The land is densely covered with pine trees and has facilities for residents’ convenience such as walking trails and benches, making it highly valuable for public use.
Jangsan in Haeundae is loved by Busan citizens as a walking trail with well-preserved forests and views overlooking the sea. Rather than development, a ‘Jangsan Sharing Movement’ is underway to ensure permanent preservation and management.
Hong Soon-heon, Mayor of Haeundae-gu, said, “We thank the family of the late Chairman Lee Kun-hee and will put more effort into preserving the ecosystem and forests for future generations.”
