Opening of the 1st Offline Store of Budget Phone 'Skylife Mobile' in Yeondong, Jeju-si
Expected to Be Useful for Middle-Aged and Older Customers Unfamiliar with SIM Usage Through Offline Support
Consultation and Subscription for TV and Internet Products Also Available
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] KT Skylife is accelerating its budget phone business by opening its first offline mobile store in Jeju.
Skylife announced on the 26th that it has opened the first store of its own budget phone brand, ‘skylife Mobile,’ in Yeondong, Jeju City, Jeju Province.
Unlike most budget phone operators who adopt non-face-to-face sales methods, Skylife’s budget phone store allows detailed product explanations, SIM card replacement, and activation support. In particular, the offline store is expected to be useful for middle-aged and older customers who are not familiar with using SIM cards. The store offers consultations and subscriptions not only for Skylife Mobile but also for Skylife’s TV, internet, and other products.
Notably, Skylife is the only budget phone operator in Korea that can provide TPS services to the entire population. Starting with the first mobile store in Jeju, it plans to expand stores nationwide.
The first mobile store will be operated on consignment by a local dealership in Jeju. Through this mobile store opening, the dealership can open new sales channels amid difficulties in traditional sales methods such as door-to-door sales due to the spread of COVID-19, while Skylife can gain brand promotion effects, signifying mutual growth for both the dealership and Skylife. Skylife fully supports the signboard design and construction costs necessary for the store opening and also provides initial settlement funds such as interior and rent.
Additionally, to celebrate Family Month, Skylife has newly launched the ‘Gold 500MB+ Plan,’ which offers unlimited data at an affordable rate of 4,900 KRW for customers aged 65 and older, and is running the “Love You! Get Benefits!” discount promotion that provides an additional discount of 1,000 to 1,500 KRW on existing Gold plans. It is also conducting the ‘All Generous Promotion’ and ‘Generous Ending Promotion,’ which provide up to 100GB of additional data over 24 months.
Kim Euihyun, Head of Sales at KT Skylife, said, “The first mobile store symbolizes Skylife’s evolution from a TV and internet provider to a comprehensive wired and wireless operator capable of bundling mobile services.” He added, “We will not only sell products but also serve as a regional service center handling after-sales service and customer inquiries.”
