The Cultural Heritage Administration and Korea Cultural Heritage Foundation Host 'A Good Day for Gugak'
The Cultural Heritage Administration's Palace and Royal Tombs Division and the Korea Cultural Heritage Foundation announced on the 23rd that from the 27th of this month to the 16th of next month, they will hold 'A Good Day for Gugak' behind the Seonjeongjeon Hall area of Changdeokgung Palace. This is a royal palace music concert to comfort citizens weary from COVID-19. On weekdays, there will be one performance per day (4:00 PM to 4:50 PM), and on weekends, two performances per day (2:00 PM to 2:50 PM and 4:00 PM to 4:50 PM). Various performances blending traditional arts such as Taepyeongmu with popular songs and jazz will be presented daily under different themes.
On stage, five gugak (traditional Korean music) teams discovered through the 'Gugak Syndrome' contest will perform. They are Pionawa, Doran, Joseon Pop Delegation, The Narin, and Wanjeon 6doda. From the 27th to the 2nd of next month, and from the 11th to the 16th, they will each present modern gugak performances.
During the Royal Culture Festival period (May 1st to 9th), participants include the Ego Project (Lee Hee-moon and Go Hee-an) and jazz pianist Cho Yoon-sung (both on May 4th), Music Factory Nolryang and popular singers 2F (Shin Yong-jae and Kim Won-joo, May 5th), violist Lee Shin-gyu, bandoneon player Go Sang-ji, sorikkun (traditional Korean vocalist) Jung Eun-hye (May 6th), Sinchon Blues Kang Heo-dallim, Kang Eun-il Haegum Plus (May 7th), singer Shin Seung-tae, Gyeonggi minyo singer Chae Soo-hyun, Bulgogi Disco, and gugak artist Lee Mi-ri (May 8th).
To prevent the spread of COVID-19, the maximum number of viewers per day is limited to fifty. Admission is free, and the performances will be live-streamed on the YouTube Cultural Heritage Channel.
