Seoul Social Service Institute Enhances Private Expertise in 'Cognitive Activity-Related Care'... Provides Textbooks and Guidelines

Private Care Workers to Immediately Utilize Home Care Services Such as Visiting Care, Bathing, Housekeeping, and Nursing
Care Case Management, Discovery, and Online-Offline Education Combined... Business Agreement with Gangseo Nanum Care Center on the 23rd

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Social Service Institute announced on the 23rd that it will provide professional teaching materials to help private care workers effectively assist service recipients in rehabilitating, maintaining, and improving cognitive functions. Guidelines related to the use of the teaching materials will also be distributed, and both online and offline training will be conducted to enhance the capabilities of care workers. It is expected that private care workers will be able to immediately apply these materials in home care services such as visiting care, bathing, housekeeping, nursing support, and disability activity support.

The professional teaching materials were directly created by occupational therapists at the Seoul Social Service Institute, experts who plan and implement treatment programs for patients with physical and mental functional disabilities. Considering that private care institutions find it difficult to employ occupational therapists, the Seoul Social Service Institute explained that the public sector developed these materials to be shared and utilized by the private sector. The goal is to enhance the capabilities of private care workers to provide professional care services and improve the quality of care services in the local community.

The teaching materials and guidelines will be provided to the Social Cooperative Gangseo Nanum Care Center. This is the first case of establishing an integrated community care system through cooperation between the private sector and the occupational therapy field. The Seoul Social Service Institute plans to continue expanding mutual cooperation with the private sector.

Additionally, the Gangseo Comprehensive Home Care Center within the Seoul Social Service Institute will sign a “Business Agreement for Cognitive Activity Support for Care Workers” with the Social Cooperative Gangseo Nanum Care Center on the same day. The Seoul Social Service Institute is a Seoul Metropolitan Government-funded organization that provides care services for the elderly, disabled, and children. It currently operates 14 comprehensive home care centers and 7 public childcare centers.

The Gangseo Comprehensive Home Care Center provides elderly long-term care projects and Care SOS services as team-based cooperative services for the elderly. Occupational therapists affiliated with the center support private institutions for integrated community care. The Social Cooperative Gangseo Nanum Care Center is an excellent social economy enterprise in Seoul that practices public interest projects through care services and job sharing for vulnerable groups in the community, offering various projects such as disability activity support and elderly long-term care projects.

The main contents of the business agreement include: ? Establishing a joint cooperative system for integrated community care ? Utilizing cognitive materials created by occupational therapists ? Developing and supporting education programs to enhance care workers’ capabilities ? Professional case management and case discovery, among others.

According to the agreement, the Seoul Social Service Institute will provide cognitive activity materials for care workers to the Gangseo Nanum Care Center and conduct both online and offline training. Care workers will use the educational materials on-site and submit feedback to continuously collaborate on care case management and discovery.

Meanwhile, to improve the quality of community care services, the Gangseo Comprehensive Home Care Center signed a business agreement with the Seonam Elderly Care Worker Support Center on the 19th, supporting occupational therapy-based cognitive activity support for care workers. Sung Kwon-young, director of the Gangseo Comprehensive Home Care Center at the Seoul Social Service Institute, said, “Through this agreement, we plan to support the provision of high-quality care services by strengthening occupational therapy-based case management and care worker capabilities,” adding, “We will continue to do our best to lead the quality of care services through public and private cooperation.”
