[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bong-ju] The story of a stepfather and daughter-in-law who overcame many twists and turns to get married is drawing attention.

On the 20th (local time), Jeff Quigle (60) and Erika Quigle (31) from Harrodsburg, Kentucky, USA, were introduced by foreign media as a couple who met as stepfather and daughter-in-law and eventually got married.

The two first met in 2010 when Erika, then 19 years old, married Jeff's stepson, Justin Towell (38). Erika's marriage did not last long. She divorced Justin at the end of 2015, and during that time, Jeff also divorced his wife.

After ending their respective marriages, the two officially started dating in 2017. Later, in 2018, Erika became pregnant with Jeff's child, and they held their wedding ceremony in August of the same year.

Erika said, "It may sound strange, but it was an undeniable love. My soul is old, but Jeff's soul is vibrant."

Jeff said, "We love each other as we are. I have never felt the age difference."

Erika's marriage to her ex-husband Justin began to falter from the early days of their honeymoon, and worsened when Erika started working.

Erika explained, "My ex-husband liked to stay cooped up at home. On the other hand, I wanted to engage in various activities. I wanted to do things that were not ordinary. But there weren't many people with dreams in this small town. My ex-husband didn't understand me."

However, Jeff, who is now her husband and was formerly her stepfather, shared many commonalities with her, and the two quickly grew close, becoming deeply connected by sharing their secrets. In 2017, they revealed their relationship to the public.

Their daughter, Brexley (2), born from their union, is a stepsibling to Erika's 9-year-old son from her marriage with Justin.

Erika's ex-husband, who had maintained a cold relationship with the couple for some time, has now remarried and started a new family.

Erika's ex-husband said, "Several years have passed now. There is no longer any reason to hate each other. The most important thing is to raise our son well," adding, "For the sake of our son, I need to maintain a good relationship with Erika, who shares joint custody."
