Specialized Forum for Local Cultural Consumers
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] The Jinju Cultural City Support Center in Jinju, Gyeongnam announced on the 22nd that it held a 'Remote Video 100-Citizen Forum' to create a Jinju-type cultural city in the city hall cultural lecture room.
To prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), the forum was held via remote video, with Jinju Mayor Cho Gyu-il, cultural education and cultural planning experts, and 100 citizens participating through the Zoom video system.
At the forum, Mayor Cho said, "Jinju is commonly known as a city of culture and history. Such assets cannot be developed or maintained without citizen participation," adding, "Organic activities of public-private governance along with citizen participation are more important than anything else."
The forum chair was Lee Seon-cheol, CEO of Gamja Flower Studio, and panelists included Yoon Sung-jin, principal of the Korea Cultural Planning School, Ahn Young-no, CEO of Annyeong Society, and Kim Sung-min, former secretary-general of the Cultural City Project Group in Seosan, Chungnam.
Principal Yoon gave a presentation on the importance of cultural cities and citizen participation activities, CEO Ahn presented on ways to build cultural keywords representing the city, and former Secretary-General Kim discussed content development cases of the Cultural City Project Group in Seosan, Chungnam, and ways to revitalize public-private governance.
After the presentations, participants selected various topics and engaged in discussions for about two hours.
Participant Ahn Young-sook said, "Jinju is a city where you can find traces of culture along the river, and the Jisu Seungsan Village Hanok is comparable to Jeonju in Jeonbuk," pointing out the importance of discovering various contents utilizing the natural resources blessed by nature.
Meanwhile, the Jinju Cultural City Support Center will hold a 100-person remote video citizen forum for cultural suppliers on the 23rd. The forum will be held under the themes of establishing Jinju-type cultural policy directions, cultural spaces that revitalize the region, and discovering citizens' creative cultural activities.
