[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Nosik] Namwon City in Jeonbuk announced on the 22nd that 23 people completed the introductory training for village activists.
The 2021 introductory training course for village activists, conducted by the Namwon Community Support Center, is a project aimed at strengthening citizens' capabilities by fostering voluntary community awareness, discovering village resources, and acquiring specific skills for village living. It was carried out with active interest and participation from many citizens longing for a village-centered life.
Starting with an orientation on Tuesday, the 23rd of last month, the training was safely conducted in a non-face-to-face manner via Zoom every Thursday for a total of five sessions from the 25th to the present day.
Participants engaged in various topics with expert instructors from various fields, including Kang Jeonga, director of Namwon Social Welfare Center; Lee Changrim, CEO of Democracy Technology School; Professor Yang Junho of Incheon National University Social Enterprise Research Center; and Ahn Yunsook, member of the Food Justice Center. The topics included villages and village activists, treasure hunting in our village, supporting our region with local currency, reducing the carbon footprint of our neighborhood’s food, and meetings with senior village activists.
Lee Gyuyong, director of the Namwon Community Support Center, said, “The Community Support Center will be an unwavering supporter of strengthening citizens' capabilities through various education programs necessary for residents themselves to create a more livable village community with interest in the village they live in.”
