[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] On the 22nd, Amorepacific celebrated Earth Day by producing and donating 300 'Yongsan Dragons' and 'Greencycle Flowerpots' to the local community.
Yongsan Dragons is a public-private-academic volunteer group based in Yongsan-gu, consisting of Amorepacific, Amorepacific Welfare Foundation, National Health Insurance Service (Yongsan Branch), HDC Shilla Duty Free, Korail Networks, Sookmyung Women's University, and Yongsan-gu Volunteer Center.
The Greencycle Flowerpots were made by mixing plastic cosmetic containers returned by Amorepacific Group customers with ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC). The plant design brand group Tiltable designed them, and Amorepacific collaborated with UHPC specialist companies Decrete and TerraCycle to produce them.
The Greencycle Flowerpot distribution event held at Hanmaeum Children's Park in Yongsan-gu began with planting education by Lee Juyoun, CEO of the plant curator 'Simda.' After the education, volunteers transplanted plants into the flowerpots, completing 3 to 4 Greencycle Flowerpots per person.
Song Hojun, head of Amorepacific's CSR team, said, "It is especially meaningful to encounter items made by recycling plastic cosmetic containers in daily life," adding, "If the Greencycle Flowerpots are delivered to local community daycare centers through the Yongsan-gu Volunteer Center, it will naturally serve as environmental education."
Meanwhile, Yongsan Dragons is also planning 'online job mentoring' activities for university student volunteers from the Seoul Volunteer Center and Sookmyung Women's University in May, continuing efforts to coexist with the local community.
