Hyundai Card Achieves Triple Crown at 'iF Design Award 2021'

Hyundai Card App 3.0, Hyundai Card Digital Lover, and MyD Win Main Awards in Three Categories

Hyundai Card Achieves Triple Crown at 'iF Design Award 2021'

[Asia Economy Reporter Ki Ha-young] Hyundai Card has achieved a triple crown at the 'iF Design Award 2021,' one of the world's top three design awards.

On the 22nd, Hyundai Card announced that it won the main prize in three categories at the iF Design Award 2021 with the 'Hyundai Card App 3.0,' 'Hyundai Card Digital Rubber,' and 'MyD' (employee ID) design projects.

It is very rare for a financial company to achieve a triple crown (main prize) at a global design award, and the company explained that the awards in the three categories were for projects of different fields and natures.

The Hyundai Card App 3.0, which won the main prize in the Communication Application (App) category, was highly evaluated for its innovative structure and user convenience. Launched in August last year and developed independently by Hyundai Card, the Hyundai Card App 3.0 broke away from the typical financial app style of listing all menus horizontally and reorganized the core menus most frequently used by users into 'Dual Home.' It also features personalized content for each user by utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) technology. The Hyundai Card App 3.0 has received positive user responses, with its monthly active users (MAU) relative to the number of members being about 50-130% higher than those of other domestic card companies' apps.

The Hyundai Card Digital Rubber Plate design, released in February last year, won the main prize in the Communication Branding category. This card was produced in four designs inspired by a traveler journeying alone through space. Hyundai Card boldly reinterpreted motifs such as spaceships, robots, and stars to match the product concept, creating a design with a striking contrast between the experimental material front of the card and the vivid back. This award for Hyundai Card Digital Rubber is the second international design award following last year's IDEA Design Award.

Hyundai Card's employee ID, MyD, won the main prize in the Product Office category. MyD, inspired by the shape of the Joseon Dynasty's identification tag called Hopae, was first introduced in 2010 and is credited with opening an era of employee IDs combining functionality and aesthetic sense. In particular, last year Hyundai Card renewed the design by integrating the case and ID card into a simple one-piece structure and making the strap freely attachable and detachable, allowing it to be naturally worn with any outfit, whether casual or suit.

Meanwhile, Hyundai Card has won a total of 11 awards, starting with the gold prize in the Communication category at the iF Design Award in 2014 for the 'Hyundai Card My Taxi' project, as well as for designs such as the 'Hyundai Card DIVE' app and the 'Vertical Card.' Additionally, it has received awards at the IDEA Design Award and Red Dot Award for projects like the 'Seoul Station Media Shelter' and 'RE:ECM' exhibition, thus winning awards from all three of the world's top design awards.
