Seung-ro Lee, Seongbuk-gu Mayor, States "We Will Spare No Support to Help People with Disabilities Achieve Economic Independence Through Vocational Rehabilitation"

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] On the occasion of the 41st Disabled Persons Day, Lee Seung-ro, Mayor of Seongbuk-gu, visited the Seongbuk Disabled Welfare Center and the vocational rehabilitation facility for the disabled, Happy Work, on the 20th, holding a communication and empathy event with people with disabilities.

From April 20 to April 26, during the week-long Disability Awareness Week aimed at improving awareness of disabilities, Mayor Lee Seung-ro of Seongbuk-gu directly visited the facilities and experienced activity education together to support people with disabilities who could not enjoy Disabled Persons Day due to the COVID-19 social distancing measures and users of disability welfare facilities with mobility restrictions.

First, Mayor Lee Seung-ro participated in a cooking class as part of the weekly activity service at the Seongbuk Disabled Welfare Center, spending time making sandwiches with people with developmental disabilities. Regarding the time spent together, he shared his thoughts, saying, "It was an opportunity to reconsider support for the care of people with developmental disabilities and the social and economic activities of families with developmental disabilities."

He also met with participants in disability welfare jobs, listened to their stories, empathized with their working lives, and did not forget to send encouragement and support to them as members of society.
