Commendation for Outstanding Donors from Garak Market's Public Interest Corporation Hope Sharing Market

Recognized for Community Sharing Using Unique Resources of Garak Market, Selected as Outstanding Donor by Songpa-gu and Gangdong-gu in '2021 Hope Ondol Warm Winter' Program

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] The Seoul Agro-Fisheries & Food Corporation (President Kim Kyung-ho) and the Garak Market fruit and seafood wholesale market corporations, intermediate wholesalers’ associations, cargo handling groups, and Garak Mall tenant merchants, who established the nonprofit organization Hope Sharing Market (Chairman Park Jae-wook) for community contribution activities, were consecutively selected as outstanding donors for the ‘2021 Hope Ondol Warm Winter Campaign’ in Songpa-gu and Gangdong-gu.

The ‘2021 Hope Ondol Warm Winter Campaign’ is a social contribution project conducted annually from November to February of the following year, in which each district collaborates with the Seoul Community Chest of Korea to help neighbors in need within the community during winter through donations from local businesses, organizations, and residents.

At the commendation ceremony held on the 19th at Songpa-gu Office and Gangdong-gu Office, Hope Sharing Market, selected as an outstanding donor company, was recognized for its contribution to spreading a culture of sharing in the community by utilizing Garak Market’s unique resource, agricultural products. Since 2010, it has delivered 10,000 boxes of kimchi annually to about 200 social welfare facilities in Seoul, and since 2013, it has supplied seasonal fruits twice a week to 240 child centers for vulnerable groups in Seoul.

Park Jae-wook (CEO of Dae-a Cheonggwa), chairman of Hope Sharing Market, stated, “We hope to provide some support to neighbors in the community during these difficult times due to COVID-19,” and added, “Through this award, we will actively participate not only in supporting vulnerable groups but also in solving community problems, contributing to shared growth by practicing the value of sharing.”
