[Asia Economy Reporter La Young-cheol] The 'Gyeonggi-do Job Foundation,' which serves as the control tower for Gyeonggi-do's job projects, will relocate to a newly constructed building at 'Camp Nimble,' a U.S. military return grant site located in Sangpae-dong, Dongducheon-si.

On the 21st, according to the province, Lee Han-gyu, Deputy Governor for Administration of Gyeonggi-do, along with Choi Yong-deok, Mayor of Dongducheon, and Je Yoon-kyung, CEO of the Gyeonggi-do Job Foundation, held an online press conference at the northern government office of Gyeonggi-do the previous day to announce the 'Gyeonggi-do Job Foundation Dongducheon-si Relocation Plan.'

The relocation target includes approximately 213 employees from the main office of the Job Foundation in Bucheon-si, consisting of 1 office, 2 headquarters, and 1 center. However, the Gyeonggi-do Technical School (Hwaseong) and the Women's Capability Development Headquarters (Yongin and Uijeongbu) will continue to operate at their current facilities.

The new main office of the Job Foundation will be constructed with a total project cost of 21.7 billion KRW, consisting of one basement floor and four above-ground floors, with a total area of 5,280 square meters.

Earlier, on the 13th, the province received approval from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety for the 'Change Approval of the Comprehensive Development Plan for Return Grant Areas,' a preliminary procedure for developing the return grant site.

This year, procedures such as architectural design, related permits, and land acquisition will be completed, with construction scheduled to begin around March next year, aiming for completion in August 2023 and relocation finalized by December of the same year.

The province estimates that the relocation of the Job Foundation to Dongducheon-si will create approximately 1,400 direct and indirect jobs, stimulate population inflow and the local economy, and serve as a foothold for expanding job policies in northern Gyeonggi-do.

Deputy Governor Lee Han-gyu stated, "We will do our best to ensure that the relocation of the Gyeonggi-do Job Foundation to Dongducheon-si is recorded as a model case of successful cooperation between metropolitan and local governments and public institutions."

Mayor Choi Yong-deok of Dongducheon said, "We will support the early relocation and development of the Gyeonggi-do Job Foundation and spare no administrative support, including improving living conditions, so that employees settling in Dongducheon can quickly integrate into the local community."
