[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] On the 21st, Heo Seok, mayor of Suncheon, announced that he spent time in conversation with women from various sectors, including the Women's Association, medical, education, arts, and farmers, at the South Gate Plaza of Suncheon Bueopseong Fortress the previous day.

The conversation was held with about 60 women both in person and online via ZOOM under the theme of improving the status of women in the local community and the healthy development of women's organizations.

Starting with mutual greetings between Mayor Heo and the women, a short video was shared, followed by in-depth discussions based on real-life cases regarding the improvement of women's status, women in the family, and the healthy development of women's organizations.

Participants presented various opinions, including ▲ the issue of inequality in women's employment ▲ increasing the proportion of female managers ▲ the difficulties faced by working moms in childcare ▲ the need to guarantee the rights of women with disabilities.

Among the participants, Ms. Kim, residing in Nakan-myeon, requested the development of more policies to support women farmers who bear a significant portion of rural labor.

The Women's Association also proposed remodeling the aging office of the organization to expand women's social participation and create a lively communication platform.

In particular, regarding the Suncheon-style care system proposed by a secondary school English teacher, it was decided that Suncheon City and the education authorities will hold a separate joint discussion.

Mayor Heo ordered the relevant departments to comprehensively understand the situation regarding women's employment inequality and prepare countermeasures, and regarding the remodeling of the Women's Association office, he agreed to inspect the site together to find improvement plans.

Mayor Heo also stated, "I hope that women's organizations, centered on the Women's Association, will unite to contribute to improving the rights of 140,000 women in Suncheon," and added, "We will do our best to support active women's activities within Suncheon City so that it leads to the enhancement of women's status."

Meanwhile, next month, which is Family Month, conversations will continue regarding the revitalization of the Deokyeon-dong Women's Association and the Osooso Village Vitality Center as well as ways to spread a culture of sharing.
