KT Apologizes for 10 Gigabit Internet Quality Degradation Issue

24 Errors Confirmed in Full Survey of 24 People... Correction Measures Taken

KT Apologizes for 10 Gigabit Internet Quality Degradation Issue

[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] "We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and concern caused by the recent degradation in 10-giga(GB)bps internet quality."

On the 21st, KT stated on its official website in an apology notice regarding the 10-giga internet quality, "We are very sorry for not being attentive enough from the customer's perspective while responding to customers who experienced inconvenience."

This controversy spread after Yitseop revealed on his YouTube channel on the 17th that the KT 10-giga internet service he uses was actually provided at a speed of only 100 megabits (MB)bps, which is one hundredth of the expected speed. During the complaint process, the rude response of the customer center staff was also pointed out.

KT explained the cause of the quality degradation as "We confirmed that there was an error in the setting of customer speed information during the expansion and replacement work of the 10-giga internet equipment." Additionally, after conducting a full survey of 10-giga internet users, they identified errors in the information of 24 customers and immediately corrected them.

They added, "We will re-examine and supplement the system that automatically detects errors to ensure no inconvenience to internet users," and promised, "For customers whose speed errors are confirmed, we will provide fee reductions according to established standards through individual notifications."
