The Joy of Reading at Changdeokgung Secret Garden

Changdeokgung Management Office, 'A Book Met in the Rear Garden' Starting from the 28th

The Joy of Reading at Changdeokgung Secret Garden

The Changdeokgung Management Office announced on the 21st that it will hold an event where citizens can enjoy reading books in the rear garden of Changdeokgung, where Joseon kings used to read and cultivate their minds and bodies. The event, titled "One Book to Meet in the Rear Garden," will take place from the 28th of this month to the 8th of next month. The pavilions and halls in the Gyujanggak and Juhapru area, which was a center of literary revival during King Jeongjo's reign, will be offered as places for rest and reading. Among these, Seohyanggak, Huiujeong, and Cheonseokjeong are normally closed buildings. They will be opened temporarily and with limited access for this event. An official stated, "The view of Buyongji Pond from the Gyujanggak and Juhapru area is the highlight."

To prevent COVID-19 infection, the Management Office will limit the number of visitors to five people on each side in Seohyanggak, two people in Huiujeong, and three people in Cheonseokjeong. The number of books provided in the pavilions and halls will also be minimized. The participation fee, including the rear garden admission, is 15,000 won. Tickets can be reserved on Ticket11 Street starting at 2 p.m. on the 22nd. Participants who write excellent reviews will receive books related to the palaces. For more details, please refer to the Changdeokgung website.
