ICT R&D Achievement Exhibition and SME Technology Exchange Event at COEX until the 23rd
Exhibition of 5G, AI, and Converged Service Technologies and Products by Over 80 Companies and Organizations
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] The Ministry of Science and ICT announced that from the 21st to the 23rd, it will hold the 2021 ICT Technology Commercialization Festival at COEX in Seoul to promote achievements in information and communication research and development and provide opportunities for technology exchange to small and venture companies.
This event has been held annually since 2016 in conjunction with the ‘World IT Show,’ attracting over 100,000 visitors and establishing itself as a representative exhibition of research achievements in the information and communication field. This year, in preparation for the spread of COVID-19, the opening ceremony, technology exhibition, support events for technology transfer and commercialization for small businesses, and policy lectures will be conducted under strict quarantine guidelines.
At the opening ceremony, an awards ceremony was held to encourage companies and experts from research institutions who made significant contributions by producing excellent results in information and communication R&D projects and contributing to technology commercialization.
Hyungjun Kim, CEO of Idea Beans, won first place in the idea contest for discovering innovative information and communication products and services and received the Minister’s Award. Additionally, seven Minister’s Awards were presented to experts such as Sangho Lee, CEO of Healthmax, who achieved outstanding results through information and communication R&D projects. Furthermore, three individuals who contributed to the dissemination of information and communication technology achievements were awarded Minister’s commendations.
At the technology exhibition, which runs until the 23rd, over 80 institutions and companies will showcase excellent technologies and products centered on three themes: 5G mobile communication, artificial intelligence (AI), and ICT convergence services, allowing the public to directly see and experience the achievements of 5G commercialization and the Digital New Deal.
In addition, to provide technology transfer and commercialization opportunities to small and venture companies, organizations such as the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute, Korea Electronics Technology Institute, and Korea Venture Association will hold technology transfer briefings, commercialization consultations, and investment attraction briefings. A grand lecture on digital transformation will also be held to anticipate changes brought by digital transformation through information and communication technologies such as autonomous driving, smart cities, and urban air mobility.
In his welcoming remarks at the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister Kyungsik Cho of the Ministry of Science and ICT stated, “For the realization of the Digital New Deal, innovative technology development and commercialization activities to bring these technologies to the market are of utmost importance,” and added, “We will actively support the smooth commercialization of technologies by small and venture companies going forward.”
