Ediya Coffee Participates in Disposable Cup Reduction Campaign for 'Earth Day'


[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Ediya Coffee will participate in the campaign to reduce the use of disposable cups on April 22, ‘Earth Day,’ and offer an additional discount benefit on the day to all customers who bring their own tumblers when using the store.


This year marks the 51st anniversary of ‘Earth Day,’ which is observed every April 22 to raise awareness about the seriousness of environmental pollution and to take action to protect the Earth’s environment. Since 2009, South Korea has conducted various activities such as nationwide lights-out events, and this year, along with the nationwide lights-out event, a campaign to reduce disposable cups will be held in celebration of ‘Earth Day.’


As part of its eco-friendly policy since 2019, Ediya Coffee has changed the extra-size transparent cups used in stores to unprinted products that are easier to recycle, and replaced the labels on Ediya Water bottles with easy-open labels to facilitate label removal for separate recycling of empty bottles.


Also, starting from March this year, to reduce the use of plastic straws nationwide, Ediya Coffee introduced drinkable lids in all stores and is conducting multifaceted reviews to implement additional eco-friendly policies for other items.


In celebration of ‘Earth Day,’ Ediya Coffee is also holding a special social media (SNS) event to raise awareness among customers about the importance of environmental protection and encourage participation in the campaign. By following the official Instagram account and leaving a pledge to protect the environment, 10 people will be selected by lottery to receive a 5,000 KRW Ediya mobile gift card.
