A woman in her 60s living on the 3rd floor of the 4-story multi-family house where the fire broke out suffered serious injuries after falling while evacuating, and two residents on the 2nd and 4th floors were hospitalized after inhaling smoke.

According to the Busan Metropolitan Police Agency, a fire broke out on the 1st floor of a 4-story multi-family house in Bujeon-dong, Busanjin-gu, Busan, at 11:52 p.m. on the 20th.

The fire was extinguished by firefighters who arrived on the scene within 14 minutes, but a man in his 50s, Mr. A, who lived on the 1st floor, was found dead. A woman in her 60s living on the 3rd floor fell while evacuating and suffered severe head injuries, and 2 to 3 residents inhaled smoke and are receiving treatment at a hospital.

The police confirmed that Mr. A’s body had stab wounds and, while searching near the fire scene, found a man in his 50s, Mr. B, bleeding and collapsed, and urgently arrested him.

Residents reported hearing two men arguing before the fire broke out in the multi-family house.

The police believe that Mr. B, who was intoxicated, killed Mr. A with a weapon during an argument on the 1st floor of the multi-family house and then set the house on fire.

The police plan to apply for an arrest warrant after Mr. B completes his hospital treatment and will investigate the details of the incident.
