Creation of 'Miracle Baeksul Children's Park' in Gwanak-gu Inspiring Children's Imagination

10 Miracle Children's Playgrounds Established So Far... Goal to Create 12 by Next Year

Creation of 'Miracle Baeksul Children's Park' in Gwanak-gu Inspiring Children's Imagination

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Junhee) has transformed Baeksul Children's Park into a space centered on children, the actual users of playgrounds, not just for simple enjoyment but as a source of children's imagination and creativity.

Since last year, the district has been actively promoting the "Miracle Children's Playground Project," continuously questioning from the children's perspective what kind of playground can stimulate their sensitivity and inspire a spirit of adventure and challenge. The design aimed to awaken children's infinite imagination by installing playground equipment using natural materials.

This year, the Miracle Playground sites include three locations: Baeksul Children's Park (Nakseongdae-dong 1606-11), Sinhwa Children's Park (Seorim-dong 408-10), and Yechon Children's Park (Namhyeon-dong 1083-1). Baeksul Children's Park completed its renovation on the 5th.

The newly developed Baeksul Children's Park completed resident opinion collection and detailed design last November, with construction starting in February this year.

By installing play facilities using eco-friendly materials, children can experience adventure and challenge, which is expected to help stimulate their imagination and curiosity.

Additionally, reflecting local residents' complaints, hazardous elements within the children's park were addressed, and a community space was created considering local cultural events in Nakseongdae-dong, transforming it into a multi-generational integrated park.

Currently, Sinhwa Children's Park and Yechon Children's Park are also being redeveloped. Following residents' proposals, old and deteriorated playground equipment has been removed, and the parks will be reborn this year with combined play structures that stimulate children's imagination and comfortable resting areas.

Meanwhile, last year, five Miracle Children's Playgrounds were created at ▲Kkachi Children's Park (Haengun-dong 1678-1), ▲Hapsil Children's Park (Samseong-dong 1704-1), ▲Sangnok Children's Park (Namhyeon-dong 602-322), ▲Nambu Children's Park (Sinsa-dong 483-14), and ▲Halla Children's Park (Miseong-dong 750-39). By 2022, a total of 12 sites will be developed to awaken children's potential and accelerate the creation of children's playgrounds where play and nature meet.

Mayor Park Junhee stated, “We will develop the Miracle Children's Playgrounds into dynamic learning spaces where children can freely run and cultivate unlimited imagination and creativity. We will continue to prioritize children's safety and do our best to create a leading Gwanak-gu together.”
