Residents' Safety and Quality of Life Ensured with Advanced Device Installation Around Songpa-gu Office
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Songpa-gu (Mayor Park Seong-su) is actively advancing the establishment of a smart city by installing smart shelters and smart poles around Songpa-gu Office on Jamsil-ro and Ogeum-ro.
A smart city refers to a city that creates a smart platform applying the latest information and communication technologies (ICT) such as the Internet of Things, efficiently operates urban assets, and provides citizens with a safe and enriched life.
Once the installation of smart shelters and smart poles is completed, urban infrastructure such as roads and electricity can be managed efficiently, and public data can be collected and utilized quickly.
As data accumulates in the future, it is expected to solve various urban problems such as traffic and energy and create new value.
One smart shelter to be installed at the central bus lane stop on Ogeum-ro will be upgraded from the existing model to a future-type shelter that integrates environmental and safety elements. It includes various features such as a solar-powered roof, LED display board, air conditioner, air purifier, and heated seats to enhance user convenience.
Additionally, two smart poles combining streetlights, CCTV, and public WIFI functions on Jamsil-ro and Ogeum-ro are being installed along with the installation of ground pedestrian traffic lights.
This smart facility installation project is linked with the 'KT Songpa Branch Complex Facility Development Project Surrounding Road Maintenance Construction,' scheduled to start construction in April and complete by the end of June.
Mayor Park Seong-su said, “We will accelerate the creation of a smart city by installing smart shelters and smart poles to make Songpa-gu a place that provides citizens with a safe and enriched life.”
Meanwhile, Songpa-gu formed a smart transportation environment task force at the end of last year and, through benchmarking and expert advisory meetings, is discovering new smart projects and upgrading existing ones. The district is focusing administrative capabilities on realizing a smart city by promoting seven core projects, including installing smart crosswalks, launching real-time parking and traffic information mobile services, and establishing a smart streetlight monitoring and control system.
