Jungjingong Promotes Global Scale-up of Robot Industry in Daegu Region

Daegu City, Korea Institute for Robot Industry Advancement, and Daegyeong Robot Enterprise Promotion Association Sign Business Agreement

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] The Small and Medium Business Corporation (Chairman Kim Hak-do, hereinafter referred to as SBC) announced on the 20th that it signed a four-party business agreement with Daegu Metropolitan City (Mayor Kwon Young-jin), Korea Institute for Robot Industry Advancement (President Son Woong-hee), and Daegyeong Robot Enterprise Promotion Association (Chairman Kim Chang-ho) to foster the robot industry in Daegu and scale up the supply chain.

SBC and the partner organizations agreed to link and support the policy tools and infrastructure each institution possesses to scale up promising upstream and downstream companies in the robot industry and parts and materials sectors in the Daegu region. They will also actively discover promising leading companies in related fields and promote the transformation of traditional companies into new regional growth industries.

Specifically, they will strengthen mutual cooperation in areas such as ▲policy fund support for fostering the robot industry ▲discovery and recommendation of promising leading companies ▲preparation of linked support policies for growth including marketing, manpower, and technology ▲building networks and channel exchanges for organic collaboration among the private sector, government, and public institutions. In particular, SBC plans to support the successful demonstration of the mobile collaborative robot regulatory free zone and provide a package of various policy tools such as policy funds, export, investment, and technology.

Chairman Kim Hak-do said, "Through this business agreement, which is part of SBC's regional innovation project, we expect the robot industry to firmly establish itself as a new growth engine in Daegu and for traditional parts and materials companies to transition their businesses into new industry fields." He added, "We will provide a stepping stone for the successful scale-up of Daegu's robot industry through organic cooperation and business linkage support with Daegu City and related organizations."
